So Much To Blog

September 6th, 2008

I havent posted in a week, but there has been so much i could have blogged about. I guess one of the things you need to keep a blog is determination. I just cant be arsed sometimes to type stuff out.
Need a dictate plug in for wordpress tbh ;)

Firstly, this week was the year anniversary since my Dad died. He died on the 4th of september last year. Also the day Steve Irwin died.
Oddly enough on the 4th of September this year i was at a funeral for another friend we know through work. Great way to kill two birds with one stone.

Also i other news this week, Google Chrome was release. I have had a play with it and i am generally impressed with what it has. The most impressive part is the way it does it with out sucking the life out of my computer.
I downloaded IE8 this week to compare features, and there are a lot of similarities between them all as expected.
Chrome just need a good plug in base and a few more extra features and then i may have to consider giving up Firefox.
Chrome did make a rookie mistake in one part though. They have a hidden “easter egg” at about:internets. In windows XP this shows the lovely tube screen saver, but as XP is the only OS with that screensaver, its pretty much redundant everywhere else.
Like firefox, Chrome also has a load of about: pages to browse.

I have had major problems with my iPhone this week too. It kept crashing when installing apps causing me to have to restore the phone. After three of four times, i started getting errors in iTunes and it wouldnt pick the iPhone up. I thought it was bricked until i had a go on my laptop. Got it back up and running and its been ok since.

I also found out the reason iTunes crashed when closing in Vista is due to NOD32 2.7. Again another NOD32 problem :(
So i got a NFR copy of NOD32 from work and whacked version 3 on. Fixed the problem perfectly, but then i ended up with the same problem i blogged about a few weeks back <Related Blog>.
I did find the setting to change this time though. NOD32 has an option in the advanced settings called HTTP Filter. I simply turned off Enable HTTP Checking and it sorted the problem.

There have also been various coloumns and articles that i have read this week that have left a good impression, but again, i have failed to blog them. Even though i installed the scribefire firefox plugin purely for that reason. lol.

So lots to blog, shame most people wont get this far due to getting bored after the first two lines ;)
